The Steward Impact Fund
Reinvesting a small portion of ownership transitions into the next generation of mission-driven founders.

What the Fund Is
The Steward Impact Fund helps turn ownership transitions into a chance to reinvest in what comes next. Sellers can choose to make a one-time, voluntary contribution, typically 1–2% of the sale price, and those funds go to supporting the next generation of mission-driven founders.
The Fund is structured as a donor-advised fund (DAF), making it a simple, transparent way to pay stewardship forward. No obligation (and no commissions or extraction), just an opt-in way to share opportunity.

Why the Fund Exists
When a business sells, it’s a turning point. What’s earned can either disappear into the market, or help create something lasting.
The Steward Impact Fund makes the second option easier. Sellers can opt in to contribute a small portion of a successful sale to support the next generation of mission-driven founders.
Thoughtful ownership transitions can:
- Preserve jobs
- Keep businesses rooted locally, and
- Carry values forward.
The Fund helps make those outcomes more common, not the exception.
How the Fund Works
The Steward Impact Fund is activated at moments of completion, not participation.
Participants may choose to contribute when:
- A seller completes a sale
- A buyer completes an acquisition
- A service provider supports a completed transaction
- A capital partner deploys capital
Contributions are:
- Entirely voluntary
- External to Steward Market
- Made directly to the DAF
- Not fees, commissions, or requirements
- Tax deductable
